The foundry MICROSTEEL – CIMD changes shareholders: it is taken over by a group of financial investors who are associated in this operation with Mr Christian Evette, President of the company BESNARD SAS who is in charge of the operational management of the whole.
MICROSTEEL – CIMD comprises 2 manufacturing units approximately 10 km from Rennes: a precision investment casting plant located in Vern-sur-Seiche specialising in the manufacture of steel, super alloy and titanium components, as well as a unit located in Corps-Nuds, specialising in centrifugal casting and machining of cobalt base alloy and low carbon parts. Employing around 80 people, the company works mainly in the aeronautics, armament and nuclear sectors. The company had been managed since 2006 by Daniel Pain. Over the last financial year, it achieved a turnover of over 12 million euros with an EBITDA of over 2 million euros.
BESNARD SAS, located in La-Selle-la-Forge, is a company specialised in the design and precision machining of prototypes and thermoforming moulds in steel, aluminium, copper, stainless steel, resin, plastic and Teflon. Employing around 35 people, the company has a client portfolio mainly from the aeronautics and automotive sectors. Managed since 1996 by Mr Christian Evette, the company achieved a turnover of over 4 million euros in 2016 for an EBITDA of over 0.45 million euros.
According to Daniel Pain, the association of the 2 entities, MICROSTEEL – CIMD and BESNARD SAS, should generate interesting synergies for customers who demand more and more ready-to-use machined parts by relying on the quality of the supervising staff and a highly qualified work force.
Karine Curtis, Partner at PAX CF in charge of the transaction: “We are very pleased to have had the opportunity to work on this operation with the managers and shareholders of MICROSTEEL – CIMD who, over the past ten years, have made the necessary investments to position the company in the most demanding markets while maintaining a very good level of profitability.
